Info: This is how I can imagine Karin revealing how she and Sasuke met, were it to happen... I'm certain it won't happen exactly like this, for Sasuke isn't going to just leave Sasuke to fight alone. But I think if this were to happen, I think it'd be triggered through Suigetsu's curiosity. This isn't a theory. It's just a fic based off of a possible outlook of Sasuke and Karins first meeting. I'm mainly writing this because I've had this in my head, plus I don't think Kishi will reveal it.

Karin sat there in her hiding spot, watching the fight with wide eyes. Her breathing was heavy, chest heaving up and down. She made an oddly strangled noise and bowed her head, eyes closing.

But she heard another noise from the battle field and it startled her into looking over at what was going on again.

Her hands were holding onto the top of the small wall she was hiding behind. She didn't care that she was betraying her position, should anyone look over at her. She cared more about Sasuke's safety than she did her own.

In fact, she was so worried about Sasuke, that she could only focus on him. She ignored the fallen Juugo, and didn't notice that Suigetsu was nowhere to be found.

Sasuke...

Karin shivered slightly as Sasuke stood in front of the Raikage with that angry look on his face, Sharingan, blood-thirsty eyes glaring at the opponent's form with rage. He tightened his hands into fists and then charged forward.

The Raikage laughed and charged forward as well, laughing maniacally.

No!

Karin shot up out of her seat and set her hands on top of her hideout wall, about to make a jump over it to rush out to Sasuke, but a hand reached out and gripped her arm tightly.

"Karin, snap out of it!" A voice hissed.

Karin froze. How could she not sense someone behind her? She turned her head and stared wide eyed at her teammate.

She narrowed her fiery eyes. "But... Sasuke...!"

"He can handle himself, Karin. You'll get in the way." Suigetsu frowned tightly. "Your job is to track Danzou. You might go out there and get yourself killed."

"And you care, why?"

Suigetsu looked taken aback by the question and his eyes suddenly darted to the fingers he had wrapped around her wrist protectively. He snapped his hand back as if he had gotten burned.

His eyes darted around, as if he was looking for an answer in the air.

Then his eyes landed on her face; He settled with, "Sasuke would kill me if I let anything happen to you. I'm not ready to die yet."

Karin narrowed her eyes. "Hmm, that's all, eh?"

Suigetsu just stared at her silently. Karin's eyes quickly darted back to Sasuke. His and the Raikage's recent attacks seemed to have collided with each other and made them fly away from each other. They were now just staring hard at each other.

Karin turned back to Suigetsu. "Whatever, fine. I'll just sit here in the background like a good little girl and do my job."

Suigetsu stared at her quietly, his eyes serious. Karin thought she was useless, didn't she? Having to sit here in hiding while Sasuke was out there fighting to the death with someone who had the status of Kage. She was worried about him and had been willing to run out there into danger in an attempt to protect him herself.

But why...?

"Karin. I know what you did to Sasuke years ago." Suigetsu said quietly. "But even with that knowledge, your devotion to him surprises me sometimes."

"..." Karin didn't respond and just watched Sasuke's tired, angry form charge at the Kage again.

Suigetsu hated being ignored. "You know, Sasuke told me what you said to him when I left the room back when we originally tried to recruit you. You were so angry that I was releasing the prisoners, yet you told him you were tired of guarding them..."

Karin finally turned to look at him. "I never wanted to guard them in the first place."

"What? Then why did you?"

"Orochimaru found me, the sole surivor my whole village. He seemed to like my ability and asked me to stay." Karin's eyes shifted away, but met Suigetsu's eyes again. "I wanted to stay and mourn my family, so I was going to say no.... but then..."

A hand was extended, the colour of it a sickly, white color. Karin stared down at it with distaste. She looked up at Orochimaru's deceiving, inviting face, and she could tell.

There was something bad about this guys chakra. She wouldn't be safe going with him. She should stay here, die along with her family.

She was a coward. She hid and listened to the screams of her village.

"It's not your fault," Orochimaru hissed, as if sensing her thoughts. "Self preservation... They wouldn't listen to you, would they?"

Karin still didn't extend her hand to accept this mans offer. He had bad chakra. She couldn't trust him.

"Hmm." Orochimaru retracted her hand, staring at her with a smirk. "You're a feisty one, aren't you? Sasuke-kun, what do you think...?"

The shadow of a boy roughly Karins height slowly formed out of the darkness of an over head building. Karin's eyes widened as she activated her sensor abilities... She could feel something powerful.

Something was stirring inside her. She brought her hand up to her chest, clutching her fingers tightly to it in a protective gesture. She wasn't sure if this feeling was good or not.

He slowly revealed himself. Spiky, gelled raven hair, and onyx eyes to match. A look on his face... That was supposed to reveal nothing, but revealed everything to Karin.

He was someone in a lot of pain, someone with a lot of regrets. Like her.

A blue energy glowed around him, and slowly her eyes widened even more. The energy seemed to reach out for her and she had to struggle to keep from reaching out to meet it.

Sasuke's simple answer was, "Who is she?"

His eyes had met hers, and he suddenly felt compelled to ask this question. She had an odd look in her eyes.

Orochimaru turned to look at him with interest. Sasuke wouldn't normally care. "She told me her name is Karin... The only survivor of the rice village. She sensed a bunch of bad people coming and tried to warn her village. They didn't listen, and she hid."

Sasuke blinked, and Karin knew he was surprised, although it didnt register on his face. She could just tell by the sudden quickness of his eyes opening and closing.

"Interesting."

With that simple word, Karin felt something within her. She had to stay with his boy.

Always.

So Karin said, her eyes never leaving Sasuke's, "I'll come with you."

Orochimaru smiled slowly. "Good. Come now, Sasuke.... Karin."

Karin rose, and Sasuke chose then to break their eye contact, and he descended back into the darkness. Orochimaru reached out to guide Karin, thinking she was scared. But she moved forward before he could reach her...

Her body moved on it's own, seeking out Sasuke, the feeling of his chakra embedded into her brain permanently.

Karin's eyes opened, her heart beating fast as the memory of this day flooded her heart. She could barely even remember the blood bath of her village anymore, even though it wasn't that long ago.

All she could remember was Sasuke.

Suigetsu's face registered some surprise. "So... that's what happened? You only accepted Orochimaru's offer because of Sasuke?"

"It's not any of your business." Karin slowly slid herself back into her hiding spot and put her hands in a seal. She closed her eyes. "You assumed I was one of the few people actually loyal to Orochimaru. I could really care less about him."

It dawned on Suigetsu even more. "Ah, I see. You stayed to be close to Sasuke."

Karin stayed silent and continued her duty of tracking Danzo. Suigetsu's voice echoed in her head and she was almost greatful to have something to focus on other than the sound of Sasuke's cries, and the Raikage's laughter. She couldn't tell what was going on, but it was distracting.

Suigetsu slowly smiled and he stood up.

"Don't worry." He flipped his broken sword over onto his back. "I'll protect Sasuke for you. He needs you here."

"... Then that's where I'll be."

Suigetsu jumped over the wall and broke into a run, letting out a battle cry as he headed into the mess.

Karin smiled, but kept her focus on her job. "Thank you."

Sasuke had to survive. If he died...

... She died.
